RESUMO

Introduction: The rapid advancement of 3D printing technology has opened new avenues for patient-specific prosthodontic rehabilitation. This study aimed to explore the impact of 3D printing technology on prosthodontic outcomes and patient satisfaction through a comparative analysis. Materials and Methods: A total of 100 patients requiring prosthodontic rehabilitation were recruited for this study. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group, where 3D printing technology was utilized for the fabrication of patient-specific prostheses, and the control group, where conventional fabrication techniques were employed. Various parameters were assessed, including prosthesis fit, occlusion, esthetics, and patient-reported outcomes such as comfort and satisfaction. Digital measurements and subjective evaluations were conducted to compare the outcomes between the two groups. Statistical analysis was performed using appropriate tests. Results: Preliminary findings indicated that the use of 3D printing technology in prosthodontic rehabilitation resulted in superior prosthesis fit, enhanced occlusal stability, and improved esthetics compared to conventional methods. Moreover, patients in the experimental group reported higher levels of comfort and overall satisfaction. The advantages of 3D printing technology were observed across different types of prosthodontic restorations, including crowns, bridges, and dentures. These results highlight the potential of 3D printing technology to revolutionize patient-specific prosthodontic rehabilitation. By facilitating precise fabrication, customization, and improved functional outcomes, 3D printing can enhance the overall quality of prosthodontic care. Further long-term studies are warranted to validate these findings and explore the cost-effectiveness and long-term durability of 3D-printed prostheses. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the integration of 3D printing technology in patient-specific prosthodontic rehabilitation holds great promise for achieving optimal functional and esthetic outcomes. The findings contribute to advancing prosthodontic practices and provide valuable insights for clinicians and researchers seeking to incorporate this innovative technology into their treatment protocols.

RESUMO

Background: Orthodontic treatment is a common dental procedure aimed at correcting malocclusions and improving dental aesthetics. However, one of the potential side effects of orthodontic treatment is root resorption, which can lead to permanent damage to the tooth's root structure. Materials and Methods: In this comparative study, 60 orthodontic patients were divided into three groups, each receiving a different orthodontic treatment approach: Group A-conventional fixed orthodontic appliances, Group B-self-ligating orthodontic appliances, and Group C-clear aligners. Digital radiographs were taken before and after treatment to assess root resorption. The extent of root resorption was quantified using a standardized measurement scale. Results: The results indicated that Group A exhibited an average root resorption of 0.2 mm, Group B showed an average root resorption of 0.1 mm, and Group C had the lowest average root resorption of 0.05 mm. These findings suggest that clear aligners resulted in significantly less root resorption compared to conventional fixed orthodontic appliances and self-ligating orthodontic appliances (P < 0.05). Conclusion: This comparative study highlights the differential effects of various orthodontic mechanics on root resorption. Clear aligners demonstrated the least amount of root resorption when compared to conventional fixed orthodontic appliances and self-ligating orthodontic appliances.

RESUMO

Effective and maximum utilization of waste heat from industrial processes and fossil plants can improve thermodynamic performance and declined the environmental impacts of waste heat discharge to the atmosphere. Here, the multi-aspect assessment and optimization of a novel cogeneration power and cooling load cycle (CPCC) is developed. The considered cogeneration process is designed under a three-level waste heat recovery process consisting of an ORC (organic Rankine cycle) unit and an ejection-based refrigeration process. Thermodynamic performance, cost feasibility and environmental assessments of the suggested process have been comprehensively evaluated and discussed. A two-objective optimization is developed to minimize the total cost and maximize the exergy efficiency. Moreover, the comprehensive CPCC behavior is compared with a reference system (a single-level recovery/ORC process and a compression-based refrigeration process). The performance of the considered CPCC is also examined under various environmentally compatible refrigerants. The environmental analysis is based on two indicators (i.e., life cycle-climate performance and total equivalent-warming impacts). Due to the multi-level recovery of waste heat, the environmental impacts of emitting waste heat into the environment are significantly reduced. The outcomes revealed that the R1234/yf is considered as the most suitable refrigerant that can causes to optimum achievements for both systems. The exergetic performance is improved by about 10.3% compared to that reference system, while the exergy destruction and total annual cost of the CPCC, respectively, are reduced by approximately 7.4% and 21.6% compared to the reference cycle. It was also found that about 11,640 tons of carbon dioxide can be reduced by using the ejector in the refrigeration process.

RESUMO

Background: Prompt professional care for postpartum depression (PPD) is difficult to obtain in China. Though online consultations improve accessibility and reduce stigma, the quality of services compared to in-person consultations is unclear. Methods: Five trained, undisclosed "standardized patients" (SPs) made "asynchronous webchats" visits and in-person visits with psychiatrists. Visits were made to 85 psychiatrists who were based in 69 hospitals in ten provincial capital cities. The care between online and in-person consultations with the same psychiatrist was compared, including diagnosis, guideline adherence, and patient-centeredness. False discovery rate (FDR) was used to adjust p values. Third visits using asynchronous webchats were made to psychiatrists who offered discrepant diagnoses. Thematic content analysis was used for the discrepancies. Findings: The proportion of diagnostic accuracy was lower for online than in-person visits (76.5% [65/85] vs 91.8% [78/85]; pFDR = 0.0066), as were the proportions of completing questions involving clinical history (16.6% vs 42.7%; pFDR < 0.0001), and management decisions (16.2% vs 27.5%; pFDR < 0.0001) consistent with recommended guidelines. Patient-centeredness was lower online than in-person (pFDR < 0.0001). Fifteen of 16 psychiatrists completed third visits, most of them considered lack of nonverbal information online as a key barrier. Interpretation: Online consultations using asynchronous webchats were inferior to in-person consultations, with respect to diagnostic accuracy, adherence to recommended clinical guidelines, and patient-centeredness. To fully realise the potential benefits of online consultations and to prevent safety issues, there is an urgent need for major improvement in the quality and oversight of these consultations. RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Lean, especially Value Stream Mapping is increasingly used in hospitals to optimize processes. This method, which originated in the automotive industry, enables all staff involved in the process to make it more customer-friendly. Despite the widely reported success of Lean projects, they have failed in some cases. This study investigated the contextual factors and mechanisms that contribute to a successful implementation of Value Stream Mapping. METHODS: Value Stream Mapping was applied to the discharge process in four breast cancer centers. A mixed-method approach was used in two steps. First, to verify the successful implementation, defined as time optimization, time measurement was conducted at three points in time and analyzed using an ANOVA. Second, an analysis of contextual factors was combined with a qualitative content analysis of mechanisms based on normalization process theory, using routine data, meeting protocols, field notes, and interview transcripts as data source. RESULTS: At one of the four breast cancer centers, lead- and waiting time were significantly reduced; at the others, these reductions did not occur. Failure/success cannot be explained by the size of the hospital, the number of cases or staffing levels. The variable project team composition is evident, especially leadership involvement. DISCUSSION: A comparative analysis was conducted to identify the factors that led to success. These factors were: participation of all leaders relevant to the process, in the case of the discharge process including medical and nursing leaders; dissemination of the changes from the project team to colleagues including its sense and possibility to discuss it; joint reflection of the implementation process in regular work team meetings. CONCLUSIONS: These results confirm the important role of leadership in implementation projects. Leadership support enabled the mechanisms found. The used combination of theoretical approaches from management research and implementation science determined the interpretation and should be applied more often in implementation science.

RESUMO

The body proportions of extant animals help inform inferences about the behaviors of their extinct relatives, but relationships between body proportions, behavior, and phylogeny in extant primates remain unclear. Advances in behavioral data, molecular phylogenies, and multivariate analytical tools make it an opportune time to perform comprehensive comparative analyses of primate traditional limb length proportions (e.g., intermembral, humerofemoral, brachial, and crural indices), body size-adjusted long bone proportions, and principal components. In this study we used a mix of newly-collected and published data to investigate whether and how the limb length proportions of a diverse sample of primates, including monkeys, apes, and modern humans, are influenced by behavior and phylogeny. We reconfirm that the intermembral index, followed by the first principal component of traditional limb length proportions, is the single most effective variable distinguishing hominoids and other anthropoids. Combined limb length proportions and positional behaviors are strongly correlated in extant anthropoid groups, but phylogeny is a better predictor of limb length proportion variation than of behavior. We confirm convergences between members of the Atelidae and extant apes (especially Pan), members of the Hylobatidae and Pongo, and a potential divergence of Presbytis limb proportions from some other cercopithecoids, which correlate with adaptations for forelimb-dominated behaviors in some colobines. Collectively, these results substantiate hypotheses indicating that extinct hominins and other hominoid taxa can be distinguished by analyzing combinations of their limb length proportions at different taxonomic levels. From these results, we hypothesize that fossil skeletons characterized by notably disparate limb length proportions are unlikely to have exhibited similar behavioral patterns.

RESUMO

Background With ChatGPT demonstrating impressive abilities in solving clinical vignettes and medical questions, there is still a lack of studies assessing ChatGPT using real patient data. With real-world cases offering added complexity, ChatGPT's utility in treatment using such data must be tested to better assess its accuracy and dependability. In this study, we compared a rural cardiologist's medication recommendations to that of GPT-4 for patients with lab review appointments. Methodology We reviewed the lab review appointments of 40 hypertension patients, noting their age, sex, medical conditions, medications and dosage, and current and past lab values. The cardiologist's medication recommendations (decreasing dose, increasing dose, stopping, or adding medications) from the most recent lab visit, if any, were recorded for each patient. Data collected from each patient was inputted into GPT-4 using a set prompt and the resulting medication recommendations from the model were recorded. Results Out of the 40 patients, 95% had conflicting overall recommendations between the physician and GPT-4, with only 10.2% of the specific medication recommendations matching between the two. Cohen's kappa coefficient was -0.0127, indicating no agreement between the cardiologist and GPT-4 for providing medication changes overall for a patient. Possible reasons for this discrepancy can be differing optimal lab value ranges, lack of holistic analysis by GPT-4, and a need for providing further supplementary information to the model. Conclusions The study findings showed a significant difference between the cardiologist's medication recommendations and that of ChatGPT-4. Future research should continue to test GPT-4 in clinical settings to validate its abilities in the real world where more intricacies and challenges exist.

RESUMO

In today's digital era, the rapid growth of databases presents significant challenges in data management. In order to address this, we have developed and designed CHAMP (Cervical Health Assessment using machine learning for Prediction), which is a user interface tool that can effectively and efficiently handle cervical cancer databases to detect patterns for future prediction diagnosis. CHAMP employs various machine learning algorithms which include XGBoost, SVM, Naive Bayes, AdaBoost, Decision Tree, and K-Nearest Neighbors in order to predict cervical cancer accurately. Moreover, this tool also designates to evaluate and optimize processes, to retrieve the significantly augmented algorithm for predicting cervical cancer. Although, the developed user interface tool was implemented in Python 3.9.0 using Flask, which provides a personalized and intuitive platform for pattern detection. The current study approach contributes to the accurate prediction and early detection of cervical cancer by leveraging the power of machine learning algorithms and comprehensive validation tools, which aim to provide learned decision-making.•CHAMP is a user interface tool which is designed for the detection of patterns for future diagnosis and prognosis of cervical cancer.•Various machine learning algorithms are employed for accurate prediction.•This tool provides personalized and intuitive data analysis which enables informed decision-making in healthcare.

RESUMO

Genetics is a fast-moving field, and for conservation practitioners or ecologists, it can be bewildering. The choice of marker used in studies is fundamental; in the literature, preference has recently shifted from microsatellites to single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) loci. Understanding how marker type affects estimates of population genetic parameters is important in the context of conservation, especially because the accuracy of estimates has a bearing on the actions taken to protect threatened species. We compare parameter estimates between seven microsatellites, 3761 SNP loci, and a random subset of 100 SNPs for the exact same 324 individual swift parrots, Lathamus discolor, and also use 457 additional samples from subsequent years to compare SNP estimates. Both marker types estimated a lower H O than H E. We show that microsatellites and SNPs mainly indicate a lack of spatial genetic structure, except when a priori collection locations were used on the SNP data in a discriminant analysis of principal components (DAPC). The 100-SNP subset gave comparable results to when the full dataset was used. Estimates of effective population size (N e) were comparable between markers when the same individuals were considered, but SNPs had narrower confidence intervals. This is reassuring because conservation assessments that rely on population genetic estimates based on a few microsatellites are unlikely to be nullified by the general shift toward SNPs in the literature. However, estimates between markers and datasets varied considerably when only adult samples were considered; hence, including samples of all age groups is recommended to be used when available. The estimated N e was higher for the full SNP dataset (2010-2019) than the smaller comparison data (2010-2015), which might be a better reflection of the species status. The lower precision of microsatellites may not necessarily be a barrier for most conservation applications; however, SNPs will improve confidence limits, which may be useful for practitioners.

RESUMO

The information and subsequent expression of will, so-called informed consent, have become the essential element of health right, understood as the right to autonomous choice in health, based on the fiduciary relationship between physician and patient. This gradually leads European Countries to adopt special legislations and to issue frequent judgments on the subject. However, new challenges in daily clinical practice call for further study of legal solutions. The authors analyse and compare the regulations on informed consent in health care of Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the Nordic Countries, Germany, and Spain. The health and legal contexts, existence of special regulations on informed consent and their characteristics are discussed. Informed consent resulted a mandatory requirement. Clear communication about treatment, therapeutic alternatives, and major risks, discussed in conversation, but preferably documented in writing, are agreed upon. The possibility of dissent and withdrawal of consent are also included. There is a growing interest in involving and regulating the entire health team in information and consent. Lowering the age of consent for minors or analysing the maturity of minors are attempts to increase their participation in health decisions. On another side, the protection of adult incapables persons requires greater involvement of family and fiduciaries to better adapt to changing health needs. Health policy must take responsibility for training health professionals and citizens about the value of health information and communication as a shared choice in care planning, to strengthen the bond of trust with the healthcare system and users.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze and compare the application advantages of Edaravone and Edaravone Dextrosanol in elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI). METHODS: A retrospective analysis of clinical data from 113 elderly AIS patients admitted to our hospital between January 2022 and January 2023 was conducted. Based on the treatment interventions received, patients were divided into a control group (n = 56) and an observation group (n = 57). The control group received Edaravone in addition to routine treatment, while the observation group received Edaravone Dextrosanol in addition to routine treatment. compared clinical outcomes, motor and neurological function, self-care ability, neural damage indicators, inflammatory markers, and adverse reactions between the two groups. RESULTS: ① Total effective rate in the observation group (91.23%) was significantly higher than that in the control group (75.00%) (P < 0.05). ② After treatment, higher FMA and Barthel scores, lower NDS score in observation group vs control group (P < 0.05). ③ After treatment, lower NSE and MMP-9 levels in observation group vs control group (P < 0.05). ④ After treatment, lower IL-1ß, IL-6, and hs-CRP levels in observation group vs control group (P < 0.05). ⑤ No significant difference in adverse reaction incidence between groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Edaravone Dextrosanol proves effective in treating elderly AIS patients. Compared to Edaravone, it boosts effectiveness, neurological recovery, motor & self-care abilities, and reduces neural damage & inflammation markers. Its safety profile is comparable to Edaravone, without significantly increasing adverse reactions. These findings suggest that Edaravone Dextrosanol is worthy of clinical promotion.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Surgical intervention is advisable for both asymptomatic and symptomatic CCAM children. This study aims to compare and analyze the efficacy of thoracoscopic and Da Vinci robot-assisted procedures in the management of CCAM among pediatric patients. METHODS: The clinical data of 188 pediatric patients diagnosed with CCAM and admitted to the Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, from April 2019 to April 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The Clavien-Dindo classification was employed for the systematic categorization of postoperative complications. RESULTS: The demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients were comparable between the two groups. Postoperative outcomes, such as the chest tube indwelling rate (92.6% vs 36.2%, p < 0.001∗), chest tube duration (2.0 (2.0-3.0) days vs 1.0 (1.0-2.0) days, p < 0.001∗), and length of postoperative hospital stay (6.0 (5.0-7.0) days vs 5.0 (5.0-6.0) days, p < 0.001∗), favored RATS over VATS. Additionally, there was no significant difference in complications between the two group, but the p-value is in a critical state. Ⅲa complications (mainly composed of postoperative thoracentesis procedures) manifesting as a higher rate in the RATS, nearly double that observed in the VATS. CONCLUSIONS: Robot-assisted thoracoscopic lung resection is demonstrated to be safe and feasible, with notable advantages in short-term postoperative clinical outcomes. Nevertheless, the practicality and long-term benefits of this technique necessitate further refinement and dedicated study. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: LEVEL III.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To analyze the efficacy of stereotactic ablative brachytherapy (SABT) and percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) for the treatment of early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS: Patients with early-stage (T1-T2aN0M0) NSCLC who underwent CT-guided SABT or MWA between October 2014 and March 2017 at four medical centers were retrospectively analyzed. Survival, treatment response, and procedure-related complications were assessed. RESULTS: A total of 83 patients were included in this study. The median follow-up time was 55.2 months (range 7.2-76.8 months). The 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 96.4%, 82.3%, and 68.4% for the SABT group (n = 28), and 96.4%, 79.7%, and 63.2% for MWA group (n = 55), respectively. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 92.9%, 74.6%, and 54.1% for SABT, and 92.7%, 70.5%, and 50.5% for MWA, respectively. There were no significant differences between SABT and MWA in terms of OS (p = 0.631) or DFS (p = 0.836). The recurrence rate was also similar between the two groups (p = 0.809). No procedure-related deaths occurred. Pneumothorax was the most common adverse event in the two groups, with no significant difference. No radiation pneumonia was found in the SABT group. CONCLUSIONS: SABT provided similar efficacy to MWA for the treatment of stage I NSCLC. SABT may be a treatment option for unresectable early-stage NSCLC. However, future prospective randomized studies are required to verify these results.

RESUMO

Deterministic compartment models (CMs) and stochastic models, including stochastic CMs and agent-based models, are widely utilized in epidemic modeling. However, the relationship between CMs and their corresponding stochastic models is not well understood. The present study aimed to address this gap by conducting a comparative study using the susceptible, exposed, infectious, and recovered (SEIR) model and its extended CMs from the coronavirus disease 2019 modeling literature. We demonstrated the equivalence of the numerical solution of CMs using the Euler scheme and their stochastic counterparts through theoretical analysis and simulations. Based on this equivalence, we proposed an efficient model calibration method that could replicate the exact solution of CMs in the corresponding stochastic models through parameter adjustment. The advancement in calibration techniques enhanced the accuracy of stochastic modeling in capturing the dynamics of epidemics. However, it should be noted that discrete-time stochastic models cannot perfectly reproduce the exact solution of continuous-time CMs. Additionally, we proposed a new stochastic compartment and agent mixed model as an alternative to agent-based models for large-scale population simulations with a limited number of agents. This model offered a balance between computational efficiency and accuracy. The results of this research contributed to the comparison and unification of deterministic CMs and stochastic models in epidemic modeling. Furthermore, the results had implications for the development of hybrid models that integrated the strengths of both frameworks. Overall, the present study has provided valuable epidemic modeling techniques and their practical applications for understanding and controlling the spread of infectious diseases.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Adequate sleep is essential for maintaining individual and public health, positively affecting cognition and well-being, and reducing chronic disease risks. It plays a significant role in driving the economy, public safety, and managing health care costs. Digital tools, including websites, sleep trackers, and apps, are key in promoting sleep health education. Conversational artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT (OpenAI, Microsoft Corp) offers accessible, personalized advice on sleep health but raises concerns about potential misinformation. This underscores the importance of ensuring that AI-driven sleep health information is accurate, given its significant impact on individual and public health, and the spread of sleep-related myths. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to examine ChatGPT's capability to debunk sleep-related disbeliefs. METHODS: A mixed methods design was leveraged. ChatGPT categorized 20 sleep-related myths identified by 10 sleep experts and rated them in terms of falseness and public health significance, on a 5-point Likert scale. Sensitivity, positive predictive value, and interrater agreement were also calculated. A qualitative comparative analysis was also conducted. RESULTS: ChatGPT labeled a significant portion (n=17, 85%) of the statements as "false" (n=9, 45%) or "generally false" (n=8, 40%), with varying accuracy across different domains. For instance, it correctly identified most myths about "sleep timing," "sleep duration," and "behaviors during sleep," while it had varying degrees of success with other categories such as "pre-sleep behaviors" and "brain function and sleep." ChatGPT's assessment of the degree of falseness and public health significance, on the 5-point Likert scale, revealed an average score of 3.45 (SD 0.87) and 3.15 (SD 0.99), respectively, indicating a good level of accuracy in identifying the falseness of statements and a good understanding of their impact on public health. The AI-based tool showed a sensitivity of 85% and a positive predictive value of 100%. Overall, this indicates that when ChatGPT labels a statement as false, it is highly reliable, but it may miss identifying some false statements. When comparing with expert ratings, high intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) between ChatGPT's appraisals and expert opinions could be found, suggesting that the AI's ratings were generally aligned with expert views on falseness (ICC=.83, P<.001) and public health significance (ICC=.79, P=.001) of sleep-related myths. Qualitatively, both ChatGPT and sleep experts refuted sleep-related misconceptions. However, ChatGPT adopted a more accessible style and provided a more generalized view, focusing on broad concepts, while experts sometimes used technical jargon, providing evidence-based explanations. CONCLUSIONS: ChatGPT-4 can accurately address sleep-related queries and debunk sleep-related myths, with a performance comparable to sleep experts, even if, given its limitations, the AI cannot completely replace expert opinions, especially in nuanced and complex fields such as sleep health, but can be a valuable complement in the dissemination of updated information and promotion of healthy behaviors.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hypertension significantly impacts the well-being and health of individuals globally. Hypertension management apps (HMAs) have been shown to assist patients in controlling blood pressure (BP), with their efficacy validated in clinical trials. However, the utilization of HMAs continues to be suboptimal. Presently, there is a dearth of real-world research based on big data and exploratory mining that compares Chinese and American HMAs. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to systematically gather HMAs and their user reviews from both China and the United States. Subsequently, using data mining techniques, the study aims to compare the user experience, satisfaction levels, influencing factors, and asymmetry between Chinese and American users of HMAs. In addition, the study seeks to assess the disparities in satisfaction and its determinants while delving into the asymmetry of these factors. METHODS: The study sourced HMAs and user reviews from 10 prominent Chinese and American app stores globally. Using the latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic model, the research identified various topics within user reviews. Subsequently, the Tobit model was used to investigate the impact and distinctions of each topic on user satisfaction. The Wald test was applied to analyze differences in effects across various factors. RESULTS: We examined a total of 261 HMAs along with their associated user reviews, amounting to 116,686 reviews in total. In terms of quantity and overall satisfaction levels, Chinese HMAs (n=91) and corresponding reviews (n=16,561) were notably fewer compared with their American counterparts (n=220 HMAs and n=100,125 reviews). The overall satisfaction rate among HMA users was 75.22% (87,773/116,686), with Chinese HMAs demonstrating a higher satisfaction rate (13,866/16,561, 83.73%) compared with that for American HMAs (73,907/100,125, 73.81%). Chinese users primarily focus on reliability (2165/16,561, 13.07%) and measurement accuracy (2091/16,561, 12.63%) when considering HMAs, whereas American users prioritize BP tracking (17,285/100,125, 17.26%) and data synchronization (12,837/100,125, 12.82%). Seven factors (easy to use: P<.001; measurement accuracy: P<.001; compatibility: P<.001; cost: P<.001; heart rate detection function: P=.02; blood pressure tracking function: P<.001; and interface design: P=.01) significantly influenced the positive deviation (PD) of Chinese HMA user satisfaction, while 8 factors (easy to use: P<.001; reliability: P<.001; measurement accuracy: P<.001; compatibility: P<.001; cost: P<.001; interface design: P<.001; real-time: P<.001; and data privacy: P=.001) affected the negative deviation (ND). Notably, BP tracking had the greatest effect on PD (ß=.354, P<.001), while cost had the most significant impact on ND (ß=3.703, P<.001). All 12 factors (easy to use: P<.001; blood pressure tracking function: P<.001; data synchronization: P<.001; blood pressure management effect: P<.001; heart rate detection function: P<.001; data sharing: P<.001; reliability: P<.001; compatibility: P<.001; interface design: P<.001; advertisement distribution: P<.001; measurement accuracy: P<.001; and cost: P<.001) significantly influenced the PD and ND of American HMA user satisfaction. Notably, BP tracking had the greatest effect on PD (ß=0.312, P<.001), while data synchronization had the most significant impact on ND (ß=2.662, P<.001). In addition, the influencing factors of PD and ND in user satisfaction of HMA in China and the United States are different. CONCLUSIONS: User satisfaction factors varied significantly between different countries, showing considerable asymmetry. For Chinese HMA users, ease of use and interface design emerged as motivational factors, while factors such as cost, measurement accuracy, and compatibility primarily contributed to user dissatisfaction. For American HMA users, motivational factors were ease of use, BP tracking, BP management effect, interface design, measurement accuracy, and cost. Moreover, users expect features such as data sharing, synchronization, software reliability, compatibility, heart rate detection, and nonintrusive advertisement distribution. Tailored experience plans should be devised for different user groups in various countries to address these diverse preferences and requirements.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Salted hen egg yolks are less oily and less flavorful than salted duck egg yolks. However, hen eggs have a more adequate market supply and have a broader application prospect than duck eggs. In the present study, egg yolks, plasma, and granules were dehydrated by adding 1% NaCl to simulate traditional curing process of salted egg yolk. The changes in the pickling process of hen egg yolks (HEY) and duck egg yolks (DEY) plasma and granules were compared to reveal the gelation mechanism and the underlying causes of quality differences in salted HEY and DEY. Salted HEY can be compared with the changes in DEY during the pickling process to provide a theoretical basis for the quality improvement of salted HEY to salted DEY. RESULTS: The results showed that both plasma and granules were involved in gel formation, but exhibited different aggregation behaviors. Based on the intermolecular forces, the HEY proteins achieved aggregation mainly through hydrophobic interactions and DEY proteins mainly through covalent binding. According to spin-spin relaxation time, HEY gels immobilized a large amount of lipid and interacted strongly with lipids. DEY gels showed much free lipid and had weak interaction with lipid. The microstructure showed that HEY proteins were easily unfolded to form a homogeneous three-dimensional gel network structure after salting, whereas heterogeneous aggregates were formed to hinder the gel development in DEY. Changes in protein secondary structure content showed that pickling can promote the transformation of the α-helices to ß-sheets structure in HEY gels, whereas more α-helices structure was formed in DEY gels. CONCLUSION: The present study has demonstrated that different gelation behaviors of hen and duck egg yolk proteins (especially in plasma) through salting treatment led to the difference in the quality of salted HEY and DEY. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.
